Infant stolen from hospital

Staff Reporter

RAJAPALAYAM: A three-day-old infant girl was stolen from the Government maternity hospital here on Wednesday morning.

The police said that Gomathi (25), wife of Pandiyaraj (31), had given birth to the baby at the Jameenkollaikondan primary health centre. Gomathi, a mother of two children, was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday for family planning operation.

An unidentified pregnant woman, who volunteered to help Gomathi at the hospital, is suspected to have taken away the infant from the hospital. The Rajapalayam (North) police are investigating the case.
