Employment for 1,000 women in each district during the next 3 years JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Secretary D. C. Samant on Wednesday said the State Government would create more self-employment opportunities for women to ensure their economic empowerment. The special drive will help achieve the targets of the Chief Minister’s five-point programme for women. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had announced the five-point programme in the 2007-08 State Budget for empowerment of women through education, employment, institutional deliveries and discouraging child marriages. Providing employment to 1,000 women in each district during the next three years is one of the targets of the programme. Mr. Samant said at a review meeting here that an initial allocation of Rs.30 crore for the programme was being gainfully utilised, while bigger budget proposals would be considered during the next financial year. Principal Women and Child Development Secretary Alka Kala said about 24,000 women had been associated with various income generating projects by their training for skill development. Principal Labour Secretary Lalit Pawar suggested that self-employment fairs be organised in large numbers all over the State to encourage women to take up profitable ventures. Mr. Samant said all departments would work with coordination to ensure success of the ambitious programme.
