Lathicharge on YC activists

KOCHI: Youth Congress activist fought pitched battles with the police on Wednesday as they tried to storm the land bought by a private builder frm public sector HMT Ltd. at Kalamassery.

The police had to resort to a mild lathi-charge and used water canons to disperse the group of more than 1,000 Youth Congress activists.

Six persons were injured in the melee, none of them seriously.
