Directive to Collectors

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Forest Minister Benoy Viswom has written to the District Collectors directing them to take urgent measures to address the problems arising from elephants running amok at festivals. He also asked the Principal Secretary (Devaswoms) to ensure that the elephants being used in festivals were well cared for, in accordance with law. In view of the coming festival season, the Collectors should convene meetings of all concerned and decide on the action to be taken to ensure compliance with laws. — Special Correspondent
