Enquiry: Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bipin Gopalakrishna speaking to Divisional Railway Manager Mahesh Mangal after Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists ransacked the latter’s office in Bangalore on Wednesday. BANGALORE: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike members ransacked the office of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) here on Wednesday protesting against what they termed the anti-Kannada statements of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad. The men, who barged into the DRM Mahesh Mangal’s office near the City Railway Station, damaged the furniture, a television set and flowerpots. According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Bipin Gopalakrishna, when a television crew entered Mr. Mangal’s office to interview him about his transfer, three vedike activists sneaked in. Basavaraj Padukote, the vedike’s Shivajinagar unit president, smashed the glass top of Mr. Mangal’s table with a chair. Another activist kicked the television stand and the colour television set fell on floor. The Upparpet police have registered a case and arrested Padukoti and two others.
