SJSM Vidyalaya emerges champion

Coimbatore: Sree Jayendra Saraswathi Maha Vidyalaya posted a two-wicket win over R.K. Sreerangammal and emerged champion in the CDCA u-17 inter-school cricket tournament for the TSS & Co. Trophy here on Wednesday.

The scores: Final: R.K. Sreerangammal 136 in 46.3 overs (J. Balaji four for 31, R. Arun Balaji four for 27) lost to Sree Jayendra Saraswathi 138 for eight in 44.3 overs.

Easy for SNGC

Host Sree Naryana Guru Polytechnic College beat Sree Jayendra Saraswathi Maha Vidyalaya CAS 4-1 in the inaugural match of the fourth inter-State inter-collegiate football championship for the Sree Naryana Guru Rolling Trophy on Wednesday.

The results: Sree Narayana Guru PC 4 (Bijoy Varghese 2, Vineeth Menon, Prasanth) bt Sree Jayendra Saraswathi 1 (Sampath); CSI Bishop Appasamy CAS 3 (Praveen 2, Deepak 1) bt Kovai Kalaimagal CAS 1 (Gowrishankar); Zamorin Guruvayoorappan (Kozhikode) 5 (Rahul 3, Manoj, Dilip) bt Sree Narayana Guru ‘B’ 1 (Krishnadas).

Hari, Ganga win

S.B. Hari Pragadish of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and P.G. Ganga Dharsana of Shaanthi (Pollachi) won the u-17 boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in the fifth N.A. Sarojini Devi Rolling Trophy chess tournament .

Football tournament

The Angappa College of Arts and Science will conduct the second inter-collegiate five-a-side football tournament for the T.A. Ramalinga Chettiar Ever Rolling Trophy at its campus from Feb.18 to 20.

Basketball tournament

The third all Tamil Nadu inter-collegiate basketball tournament for men and women, jointly hosted by the Sri Abhinav Trust and Babushankar Memorial Basketball Club, will be held at the Holy Cross School grounds (Salem) from Feb. 15 to 18.
