Pratheesh stuns Prajwal, Kashyap through

BANGALORE: Unseeded K. Pratheesh, a set down, rallied to upset second seed Prajwal Dev 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to enter the boys under-14 singles semifinals of the Tennis Advantage AITA Talent Series championship at the St. John’s College courts here on Wednesday.

The top-seeded Kashyap Ashok, third seed Nikhil Reddy and the fourth seeded Rohit R. Gowda joined Pratheesh in the semifinals.

In the boys’ under-18 singles, the local lad Sharan Patil defeated third seed Sujith Mathew 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 and made the semifinals.

In another upset, Ajinkya Pawar defeated the fourth seed, Gagan Singh 6-3, 6-2.

Boys: U-14: Kashyap Ashok bt Rohit John Jose 6-3, 6-4; Rohit Gowda bt Anoop 6-3, 7-5; Nikhil Reddy bt Nehal Agha 6-1, 6-1; K. Pratheesh bt Prajwal Dev 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

U-18: S. Kamal bt Surjit Singh 6-4, 6-4; Sharan Patil bt Sujith Mathew 3-6, 6-4, 6-1; Ajinkya Pawar bt Ganga Singh 6-3, 6-2; Uttam Singh bt Nikhil Reddy 6-1, 7-6(5).

Easy for Vel Socials

Vel Socials registered a facile 3-0 victory over Bangalore Boys in a ‘C’ division football league at the IISc grounds here on Wednesday.

Selvan opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Stephen (36th) and Anil (65th) increased the lead.
