Mumbai qualifies for the knock-out stage Manipur scores an 11-1 win over Bhopal HYDERABAD: Centre-forward Albert John could not have timed his hat-trick better. It helped Tamil Nadu record a 4-0 win over Chhattisgarh and qualify for the knock-out phase in the fourth junior National hockey championship for boys at the Gachibowli Complex here on Wednesday. Tamil Nadu shot into lead with Albert scoring the first goal in the fifth minute. To its credit, the Chhattisgarh defence was equal to the task, warding off a series of attacks in the first-half. But in the second-half, Tamil Nadu struck twice through Albert in the 53rd and 61st minutes to take a comfortable 3-0 lead. Vikram scored the fourth to complete the tally. In another match, Mumbai recorded a solitary goal win over Orissa to make it to the knock-out with right-back Suresh Singh converting a penalty-corner in the 65th minute. Manipur scored an emphatic 11-1 win over Bhopal with Chinglensana being the top-scorer with three goals. Abung, Hemlet and Premchand struck twice each while M. Satinan Da and Wangamvo scored once each. Amir Shafi reduced the margin. Jharkhand beats U.P.Jharkhand, which already made the quarterfinals, registered a 2-1 win over Uttar Pradesh with Anil Xaxo scoring a brace while Sunil reduced the margin .
