HYDERABAD: The GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer, C.V.S.K. Sarma, has announced on Wednesday that Rs. 120 crore has been sanctioned for construction of weaker section housing colonies under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for the year 2007-08.
The sanction came in after a meeting held at New Delhi today attended by the Commissioner and his Engineering-in-Chief Dr. P. Panduranga Rao, who made a power point presentation on the ongoing housing schemes in the twin cities under the GHMC jurisdiction.
A total of 4,550 houses are to be constructed in 28 colonies with each house estimated to cost Rs. 2.32 lakh.
Dr. Rao informed that the JNNURM members had appreciated the implementation of housing schemes and felt they could be the role models for other States to follow.
Municipal officials from the States of Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and others have also presented their housing schemes, an official spokesman said here.
