Stadium roof collapses

KOCHI: A portion of one of the spans of the roof of Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium fell down while under construction. One person was injured in the accident.

The construction of the roof was going on, and last week a new method of fabricating the span at the floor and then hoisting it using derrick, a lifting device using mast and ropes, was tried to save time, said C.J. Joseph, Superintendent Engineer, Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), which owns the stadium.
