High Court notices on toll tax

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Centre, the National Highways Authority of India and the Haryana Urban Development Authority on a public interest litigation seeking a direction for exempting daily commuters from paying toll tax for using the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway.

Issuing notices, a Division Bench comprising Justice M.K. Sharma and Justice Reva Khetrpal directed the respondents to file their replies by February 20.

The petition submitted that daily commuters should either be exempted from toll or the State Government should build alternative roads for them.
