Paswan welcomes MNS chief’s arrest

Special Correspondent

PATNA: Union Steel Minister and Lok Jan Shakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday welcomed the arrest of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, saying the priority was to restore peace.

Mr. Paswan said he took up the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about a week ago and Dr. Singh expressed concern over the situation. Though law and order was a State subject, the Centre should intervene in exceptional cases. The situation did not warrant the deployment of the Army. If necessary, he would go to Maharashtra.
