Lee at his best: Hendrick

HYDERABAD: Former England fast bowler Mike Hendrick said he was pleased with the emergence of fast bowlers in Indian cricket.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a visit to St. John’s Coaching Foundation in Hyderabad on Wednesday (on his way back home from Vizag after conducting a two-week camp for Andhra cricketers), Hendrick said, “it is always good to see these fast bowlers. May be, Sreesanth should control his aggression as otherwise an overdose of it tends to make him more inconsistent. Ishant looks to be a very different bowler. They have a bright future,” he said. On contemporary fast bowlers, Hendrick said Brett Lee seems to be bowling at his best followed closely by his team-mate Stuart Clarke, who is known for his accuracy. The former Derbyshire cricketer said that sledging is not new to cricket but perhaps there is more rubbish talked on the field now, just for the sake of saying something to the rival team’s players.

To a query, Hendrick said: “Given the opportunity, I will be pleased to look at being the fast bowling coach of the Indian team. But, I have never been approached in the past.” — Principal Correspondent
