BHUBANESWAR: The fifth annual edition of BYOFF - Bring Your Own Film Festival - is set to roll on in the pilgrims’ paradise of Puri from February 21 to 25. The Pink House hotel premises on the sea shore would be its venue, as usual. The five-day event, being hosted in association with the Bhubaneswar-based Inscreen film society, would screen over 140 films of different genres and durations from 20 countries, informed festival coordinator and independent filmmaker Kapilas Bhuyan. Unique formatAbout 500 delegates comprising filmmakers, film buffs, critics, artists and journalists from India and abroad would arrive in Puri for the show, he added. BYOFF’s uniqueness lies in its flexible format, pointed out the hosts. Started in 2004 by a bunch of young filmmakers, this unconventional festival welcomes all sorts of filmmakers to screen their works without any selection process, jury or award. All that a filmmaker has to do is to log on to www.byofilmfestival.com to register participation or just write to the hosts at byoffpuri@gmail.com, they added. Screening of films in various formats apart, the event encourages the participants to showcase their works of art like photographs, sculptures and paintings. One can sing, dance or discuss or share an idea during the festival, explained Bhuyan. The sidelines of BYOFF would be the ideal space for all such activities, he said.
