TDP’s cycle yatra from February 20
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: The TDP’s cycle yatra that was scheduled on February 10 and postponed later due to inclement weather would now begin at Jiyyammavaasa in the Agency region on February 20, party district committee president Y.Ramana Murty said.
Releasing the route map and day-to-day schedule at a press conference on Thursday, Mr. Murty said not less than 250 party men would participate in the yatra. They would on an average cover 15 km to 29 km everyday and reach Cheepurupalli, the end point, on March 5.
The aim of the yatra was to enlighten people on corruption at every level, irregularities in Indiramma housing and National Rural Employment Guarantee programmes, “anti-people” policies of the Government and to expose the Government’s claim on releasing water through irrigation projects.
The TDP would assess the damage caused to black gram, green gram and mango crops by the unseasonal rains during the last four days.
He said that the problems heard from people would be brought to the notice of the District Collector for a solution.
