Police taken for a ride
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: A prankster on Tuesday took the police for a ride by making an anonymous telephone call to the police control room that bombs have been planted at a courier agency in Indiranagar.
After receiving the call around 7 p.m., the control staff informed the Indiranagar police station. Subsequently, the Indiranagar police, with the help of personnel from Bomb Detection Squad, conducted searches at the courier agency.
“We found five small firecrackers, each weighing about 25 grams,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Bijay Kumar Singh told The Hindu on Wednesday.
The crackers were not part of a consignment. The man, who had called the control room, himself could have placed the crackers at the courier agency and played a prank, Mr. Singh said. The police have not registered any case in this regard, he said.
Bomb hoax
In another incident, an unidentified person called up Bharathiya Sanskrithi Vidyapeeta in Chamarajpet on Wednesday and said that a bomb had been planted there.
