BJP against deferment of polls: Advani

Staff Correspondent

Chitradurga: The former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani has asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party will oppose any move to postpone the Assembly elections in Karnataka.

Mr. Advani, who was here to inaugurate the Tarala Balu Hunnime Mahotsava at Holalkere taluk, told presspersons on Thursday, that the party was not against holding polls as per the delimitation plan, but it should be held as per schedule. “The party will not tolerate any effort to defer the polls under the pretext of delimitation,” he said.

He said the BJP would urge the Election Commission to conduct polls at the earliest, as it was not in favour of extending President’s Rule.
