GUWAHATI: A high-level Central team headed by Cabinet Secretary A.M Chandrasekhar arrived here on a two-day visit to Assam to take stock of prevailing law-and-order situation, counter-insurgency measures and to review implementation of various central sector schemes and programmes. The team also included Defence Secretary Vijay Singh and other senior officials of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rural Development and the Ministry of Development of North East Region. On their arrival at the Raj Bhawan, the Cabinet Secretary and the Defence Secretary called on Assam Governor Ajai Singh and discussed with him the prevailing situation in the State and development issues, sources said.
