Corrections and clarifications

The heading of a report (“International” page, February 14, 2008) was “Pakistan tests nuclear missile”, while the text said “Pakistan on Wednesday test-fired the short-range, nuclear-capable Ghaznavi ballistic missile which can target northern and western Indian cities as the government vowed to ‘retain a strong conventional and unconventional deterrence’.” A nuclear-capable missile is a weapon that can carry nuclear arms, but it is not a nuclear missile. (The Ghaznavi missile is a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) with an optimal range of 290 km. It can deliver either a conventional or nuclear payload and is powered by a single stage solid propellant engine.)

In a football report “Punjab, Tamil Nadu in semifinals” (“Sport”, February 13, 2008), Punjab beat Mizoram and Tamil Nadu overcame Bengal, as mentioned in the results column (Tamil Nadu beat Bengal 4-2; Punjab beat Mizoram 2-0.) The first paragraph had said “Punjab and host Tamil Nadu qualified for the semifinals of the 17th youth (under-21) National football championship, beating Bengal (4-2) and Mizoram (2-0) respectively in their group ‘A’ quarterfinal league matches, at the Race Course stadium at Madurai.
