Collector inspects paddy procurement

KARUR: A total of 1,655 tonnes of paddy have been procured from the farmers during the current samba season through the Direct Purchase Centres in Kulithalai and Krishnarayapuram taluks of Karur district. Collector T.N. Venkatesh inspected the arrangements at a Direct Purchase Centre put up by the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation at Panikkampatti near Kulithalai on Wednesday.
After inspection, Mr. Venkatesh said that the TNCSC has established Direct Purchase Centres at Nangavaram, Nachalur, Mayanur, Lalapet, Panikkampatti, Kulithalai, Karur, Sivayam and Kulithalai center at Musiri for the farmers to sell samba paddy.
So far, 1,284 tonnes have been procured from farmers in the Nangavaram centre, 296 tonnes at Panikkampatti and 75 tonnes at Kulithalai.
TNCSC Manager S.R. Kalaiselvan was present on the occasion.
