2 persons get life term

PUDUKOTTAI: The Judge of the Fast Track Court, Pon. Iyyasamy, on Wednesday, convicted two persons to life imprisonment in a murder and burglary case.

According to the prosecution, a group of six persons burgled the house of one Premalatha at Neivasalpatti village near Namanasamuthiram. When her mother, Porkudi (60) offered resistance, the miscreants strangled her to death. The incident happened on November 4, 2004.

The Namanasamuthiram police registered a case and arrested six persons. The court, in October 2007, convicted four of the accused to life imprisonment. Two other accused, Senthil and Pandian both from Namakkal district, were absconding. The police arrested the duo and produced them before the Judge on Wednesday.

The Judge awarded life imprisonment to each of them. They were later lodged in the Central Prison in Salem.
