DMK, PMK workers clash in Pudukottai

Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: A group of persons, reportedly cadres of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, pelted soda water bottles and stones at a public meeting organised by the Pattali Makkal Katchi at Meemisal in Pudukottai district on Wednesday night. The miscreants damaged the windscreen of a car belonging to PMK district secretary R. Rameshbabu. Trouble started when the PMK MLA of Dharmapuri L. Velusamy was addressing a meeting that was convened to propagate the party’s programmes and policies. The DMK cadres, who came in a car, allegedly indulged in violence in retaliation to an address delivered earlier by a local PMK worker hurling allegations against the local functionary of the ruling party. Mr. Velusamy told The Hindu that he had preferred a complaint with the Meemisal police demanding stern action.
