Left, BJP condemn hike

New Delhi: The Left parties and the BJP have condemned the rise in oil prices and threatened to launch protests.

“We protest against this decision and will organise widespread protests against it. This hike was not necessary and should be withdrawn,” CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury said.

The sentiment was echoed by the leaders of CPI, RSP and Forward Bloc.

BJP president Rajnath Singh said the hike would push up prices of essential commodities, affecting all sections of society, particularly the middle class and farmers. — PTI
