THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader T.M. Jacob said here on Thursday that the CPI (M)’s proposed Third Front would help the BJP by splitting secular votes. He reminded the Left parties that it was the same concept that had helped the BJP wrest power 10 years ago. The Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader said only the Congress leadership can provide a strong government at the Centre. Mr. Jacob also registered strong protest at the State government’s failure to tackle price rise. He also wanted the government to allow farmers to cultivate other crops in paddy land where cultivation was not economical. His party would oppose the proposed paddy Act if it harmed the interests of farmers, he said. His party was also opposed to the proposed independent agency for appointments to aided schools and the powers to be given to school managements to take punitive action against erring teachers, he said.
