Steals car to impress girlfriend

HYDERABAD: A youngster, Mohd. Shafiuddin, was caught on Thursday while moving in a car, which he allegedly stole two weeks ago to impress his girlfriend.

Son of a rich businessman Shah Nawaz Hussain, the 20-year-old was spotted driving a Maruti Swift near Abids by the car owner Wase in the morning.

He alerted the Hyderabad Detective Department officials, who sent special parties to catch the car.

When Shafiuddin was intercepted near Chapel Road, he feigned innocence but subsequently confessed to have stolen it from Liquids lounge bar in Banjara Hills in January to impress his girlfriend, DCP (DD) R.S. Praveen Kumar told reporters.

A digital camera, laptop, a pair of sunglasses and a hard disc were also seized from the youth. A resident of Falaknuma, he used to frequent the bar.
