Youth stabbed while trying to save brother

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A youngster Ismail was stabbed to death when he intervened to save his brother, Basheer, who was attacked by the latter’s friends, at Bhavaninagar in Old City on Wednesday night.

Basheer (24) and his friend Amir suddenly entered into an argument over a petty matter around 11 p.m. at Siddiquinagar. Amir called three of his friends and all beat up Basheer, the Bhavaninagar Inspector K. Yadagiri said on Thursday. Ismail rushed to the spot and escorted his brother home. Just when they were entering the house, Amir and his friends turned up again. Ismail pushed Basheer inside the house. “In the melee, Amir lunged at them with a knife, stabbed Ismail twiceand fled the spot,” the Inspector explained. He was rushed to the Osmania General Hospital but he died even before the treatment began. Ismail and Basheer run a jewellery polishing shop while Amir, a distant relative of theirs, is jobless.
