NEW DELHI: The Food and Civil Supplies Department of the Delhi Government has in a letter to the Union Petroleum Ministry demanded that the licences of 12 gas dealers of Delhi be suspended as they were found indulging in illegal practices during raids conducted by the enforcement teams of the department at 140 gas agencies during the past week. The raids, which were intensified on February 8 in the midst of an acute gas shortage that had gripped the city, targeted as many as 140 gas agencies and 50 hotels which were suspected to be using domestic liquid petroleum gas cylinder. Besides, four more FIRs are being lodged and preliminary investigations are being undertaken to fix responsibility before the formal complaints are lodged. Drive to continueFood and Civil Supplies Minister Haroon Yusuf said the drive would continue since the Government does not want people to suffer at the hands of unscrupulous dealers. Mr. Yusuf said nearly 100 teams drawn from personnel belonging to the Food and Civil Supplies and the Weights and Measures Department were pressed into action.
