NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday indicated that it would soon pass orders for release of money collected as fine from Blueline bus operators for release of their vehicles involved in accidents for distribution among the victims. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Mukul Mudgal and Justice Reva Khetrapal gave this indication while hearing a bunch of petitions by the bus owners. The Court had last year directed these bus operators to deposit Rs.1 lakh as fine for release of their impounded buses if they were involved in fatal accidents, Rs.50,000 for those that had caused grievous injuries and Rs.25,000 for those that had caused minor injuries to the victims. The fine amount is lying in the lower courts and it will be distributed among the family members of the dead and the injured at the rate of Rs.1 lakh to the kith and kin of those who have lost their lives, Rs. 50,000 to those who have suffered grievous injuries and Rs. 25,000 to those who have suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, the bus operators have challenged the Court orders.
