HYDERABAD: The Registration and Stamps Department on Friday introduced ‘Registration by Prior Appointment’ scheme at select Sub-Registrar offices on a pilot basis. Instead of waiting in queue for long hours, now general public can take appointments for either registration or submission of documents for registration. The new scheme, meant only for property registration, has been introduced in 37 Sub-Registrar offices, including Hyderabad, in the State and would enable public to access officials at a pre-appointed time. For appointments, public can either visit the website ( www.igrs.ap.gov.in) or call 040-27670449. 15-minute durationEach appointment would be of 15-minute duration and can be made one month to two days ahead of the appointed day. The Sub-Registrar offices would be entertaining such ‘appointments’ between 11 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. while from 2 p.m., the offices would continue normal services. “On each working day, there would be ten to 12 such appointments. The website would clearly show which date is available for appointment. Even on phone, the caller will be informed the available date of appointment,” said Inspector General for Stamps and Registration Department S.K. Sinha. Checks are in place to restrict unscrupulous elements from ‘block-booking’ appointments. Persons trying to take appointment would have to furnish their name and details like house number or survey number of the property to be registered. “When they come with documents, these details should match and if they don’t, then their appointment would be cancelled,” Mr. Sinha explained. Persons having an appointment would be given priority for registration over others. “If the appointee brings improper documents, then officials can’t register. Such persons have to take a new appointment or come after 2 p.m. for regular registration,” officials clarified. InternetWhile taking an appointment, either through Internet or phone, the caller would be given an appointment number, which has to be produced during appointment, when the appointee meets the official.
