“Nano science can benefit common man”

Staff Reporter

Develop positive approach, V-C tells students

VANIYAMBADI: Nanotechnology is the one-stop solution for everything - smart clothing, environment protection, defence upgradation, etc. The government is making serious efforts to promote research and development in the field of Nanotechnology, K. Meer Mustafa Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai, said here on Friday.

He was speaking at the 10th special convocation of Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women, Vaniyambadi, in which degrees were conferred on 225 undergraduate and 24 post graduate outgoing students.

Dr. Hussain said there was a misconception that nanotechnology was related only to high-profile scientists and researchers and that it would provide technical assistance in complicated projects and not those related to common man.

But, nano science would directly benefit a common man when it comes to commercial use.

However, till then, there was a need to convert this science into a proper technology. More and more educational institutions should introduce courses in nanotechnology, Dr. Hussain said.

Calling upon the students to inculcate positive approach to life, he said, “If you are optimistic, you are bound to look at issues from a positive point of view,” Dr. Hussain said.

Later, degrees were conferred on the graduates. A total of six students of the college obtained University rank. D. Lavanya, B.Sc mathematics, obtained the Thiruvalluvar University first rank.
