Man ends life

TIRUPATTUR: A 35-year-old man consumed poison and ended his life after trying to murder his wife at Adiyur near here on Thursday night.

According the police, Shekar (35), working as a cook in a hotel at Jolarpet, was married to Asha alias Manjula (30) for fifteen years. Manjula was living alone with her four children in Adiyur.

On Thursday night, Shekar entered Manjula’s house in an inebriated state and attacked her with a sickle. She sustained injuries on her neck and chest. Her son Kumaresan (13), who tried to save his mother, also sustained injuries on the head. Manjula’s mother was also injured. Shekar then fled the spot.

The three were admitted at the Government Hospital in Tirupattur. On Friday morning, Shekar’s body was found near the Palathoor Choir Factory. Post-mortem report confirmed that Shekar had consumed poison.
