INL to oppose move to misinterpret religions Says such moves are against democracy and humanism KASARAGOD: The Indian National League (INL) would hold a one-day peace march in Uduma Assembly constituency in the district on February 18. At a press conference here on Friday, INL State secretary N.A. Nellikkunnu said the peace march was being organised in the context of the political clashes in the constituency during the last few months and certain groups trying to give it a communal colour. He said his party would oppose efforts of some political parties to misinterpret religions and to make political mileage out of it. Such efforts were against democracy and humanism, said Mr. Nellikkunnu. Mr. Nellikkunnu said the INL opposed mixing religion with politics and would raise the slogan ‘Oppose misuse of Religion and Communalism’ during the peace march. Efforts to incite clashes among the people in the name of religion should be opposed tooth and nail, the INL leaders said. Those who try to polarize people in the name of caste and religion should be considered as enemies of the country whoever they were, said Mr. Nellikkunnu. He said the peace march would be flagged off from Melpparambu, Uduma on February 18 at 9.30 a.m. INL leader P.A. Muhammad Kunhi would be the captain of the march. The march would end at Iqbal Junction, Ajanoor at 5 p.m. on the day. A meeting would be held there on the conclusion of the march. INL State president S.A. Puthiyav Valappil would inaugurate the meeting.
