Court inaugurated at Sriperumbudur

KANCHEEPURAM: Appointment of separate judicial officers for adjudication of civil and criminal cases in lower courts will help quick disposal of cases, according to Justice S. Ashok Kumar of the Madras High Court.
Inaugurating the district munsif-cum-judicial magistrate court at Sriperumbudur on Saturday, Mr. Kumar said that about 3,300 cases, both civil and criminal litigations being tried in Tiruvallur, Poonamallee, Tambaram and Kancheepuram courts, would be transferred to Sriperumbudur.
The number was likely to increase by another seven hundred in view of inclusion of Manimangalam and Oragadam police stations under the new court, as requested by the Labour Welfare Minister, T.M. Anbarasan.
Justice T. Sudanthiram of the Madras High Court called upon the advocates to refrain from staying away from court proceedings even for petty issues.
S. Baskaran, principal district and sessions judge, Kancheepuram district; Anbarasan, Minister; D. Yasodha, Sriperumbudur MLA; and V. Rajaraman, District Revenue Officer; participated in the function held to inaugurate the court.
