Corrections and clarifications

In a report “Life term for Pappu Yadav, two others” (February 15, 2008), the third paragraph was: “The court had concluded the trial on February 14 and reserved its verdict ….”, leading to a query from readers. It was an error and should have been February 4.

In a report “Air Chief calls for technology transfer” (Karnataka, February 15, 2008, page 5), the chief of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal F.H. Major was incorrectly referred to as Mr. Major. It should have been the “Air Force chief” or the “Air Chief Marshal”. (Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major took over as the Chief of the Air Staff on March 31, 2007.)

The tenth paragraph in a report “No protection for crime money: Swiss banker” (February 14, 2008) was “In order to expand its activity in India, the delegation [of Swiss bankers] interacted with senior officials of the Reserve Bank of India, Securities and Exchange Board of India, Finance Ministry officials, Mumbai Stock Exchange and the Indian Banking Association.” It should have been the “Indian Banks’ Association”. (The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) was formed on September 26, 1946 with 22 members. As on July 2007, it has 150 members who comprise public sector banks, private sector banks, foreign banks having offices in India and urban co-operative banks.)
