Jammu: “What else do they want and how much blood do they want from us so that we can prove ourselves Indians,” National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah has asked. “Hundreds of our leaders and workers have lost their lives during the last 10 years. However, the party was always stabbed in the back. We never projected the cause of bloodshed and division of the State,” Dr. Abdullah, the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the 2008 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, said at a function here on Thursday evening. “Who forced Kashmiri Pandits to migrate from the Valley and who is responsible for their present status?” The NC patron, who was thrice Chief Minister, said the Centre always played the regional card and tried to divide the people of the State on regional and communal basis. “They want us to keep fighting with each other so that they can rule us.” Dr. Abdullah said: “Islamabad forced the gun in the State.” HonouredAt the function organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Forum for Peace and Reconciliation, Gujjar leader Mian Bashir Ahmed was felicitated for getting Padma Bhushan and Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Amitabh Mattoo and Mohammad Yousuf Taing were honoured for getting Padma Shri.
