Durga of St. Joseph’s Engineering College, Chennai, set a new meet record in women’s hammer throw by heaving the iron ball to a distance of 24.47m to better her own record of 23.99m set in 2007 in the 26th TIES athletics meet at Mohamed Sathak Engineering College ground, Kilakarai on Friday. The results: Men: Shot put: 1. F. Ismail (PSG CE, Cbe) 11.70m; 2. S. Anitus (SIT, Kariapatti); 3. A. Daniel (Tiruchi CE). Women: Long jump: 1. S. Sajitha (Adhiyaman CE, Hosur) 4.88m; 2. V.
