RSP bags Gold Icon National Award

Rourkela: Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has bagged the prestigious Gold Icon National Award for e-governance for 2007-2008. Jointly presented by the Centre’s Administrative Reforms and Information and Technology departments, the award was won by the plant in the category exemplary usage of technology in information and communication technology

by PSUs for its electronic procurement system.

RSP is the first unit in Steel Authority of India (SAIL) to bag this honour, RSP sources said here today.

The silver icon award in this category was bagged by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, while bronze icon has gone to Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation.

The online internet enabled procurement system focusses on building an electronic interface of the steel plant with suppliers by facilitating an instant and error free system of information and data exchange and full transparency. - PTI
