37 e-Governance projects to go on stream by 2010
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The Centre is keen on completing by the year 2010, 37 projects covering e-Governance and digitisation of public services, even those in the education sector, at an estimated cost of US $8 million.
This was revealed by IBM’s Country Manager (Government) here, Satish Kaushal during a visit to Hyderabad on Friday for the inauguration of a new development facility of Infronics Systems Limited. In an informal interaction with presspersons, he however, hastened to add that the targets were those that Government of India wished to achieve.
On IT companies losing revenues with the rupee appreciating over the US dollar, Mr. Kaushal said it was a temporary phenomenon.
Thumb rule
The thumb rule of IBM was to ensure that for every US dollar it earned, it should facilitate its eco-system to make five dollars.
It was working on several projects like networking of computers in all Income-Tax Offices, on land reforms projects, Citizen’s Identity Card, on State Wide Area Networks, State Data Centres, Citizens Information Centres (6 lakh coming up).
