Andhra Pradesh
The political scene in the State indeed is slowly hotting up and along with it the speculation about debut of political parties and individuals. Even as speculation about actor Chirajneevi’s political party continues to engage public attention, the reported attempts of Telangana Rashtra Samiti to persuade former Indian cricket captain Azharuddin to join their party generated quite some interest. Films and cricket are no doubt two fields that command immense fan following and political parties are only too glad to have them on their side to boost their own prospects in elections. The vernacular media went gaga over the reported move of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti to rope in Azhar and that Telangana Rashtra Samiti intellectuals even held preliminary discussions with him. While sources close to ‘Azzu Bhai’ have denied any such meeting and that the former cricketer is not inclined to join politics, Telangana Rashtra Samiti appears to be hopeful of his nod to bat for them.
