“Keep abreast of the fast changing global business environment”
CHENNAI: The two-day annual Madras Management Association Convention – 2008 began with the Managing Director of Ashok Leyland, R. Seshasayee, appealing to the Indian corporate top brass to attach greater importance to spotting and nurturing skilled human resources to help meet the global challenges.
Inaugurating the MMA meet, Mr. Seshasayee called for more investments in research and development, especially for encouraging innovative ideas. He released a souvenir, ‘Business Mandate,’ brought out to commemorate the convention.
Chairman of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) Subodh Bhargava, in his key-note address, said India Inc was undoubtedly on the fast track but what was lacking was the mindset to change. “We are running a marathon. But, we have to ensure that we stay on course.” He appealed to corporates to keep abreast of the fast changing global business environment, which had a direct and indirect bearing on India.
Jayshree Venkatraman, Chairperson Convention Committee and Director of Tractors and Farm Equipment (TAFE), underscored the importance of creating more jobs besides providing a big push to the corporate social responsibility of providing quality education to the rural masses and underprivileged sections of society.
S. Gopal, president, MMA, and Deputy Managing Director Chemplast Sanmar and R. Raghuttama Rao, Managing Director, ICRA Management Consulting Services, spoke.
