Murray in semifinals

Marseille: British number one Andy Murray advanced to the semifinals of the Marseille Open with a 7-5, 7-6 win over Frenchman Nicolas Mahut on Friday.

The first set was tight until Mahut dropped his serve in the last game with a double fault followed by a backhand error.

World number 11 Murray, seeded fourth in the indoor event, spurned two match points in the 10th game of the second set before going through 7-5 on a tiebreak after the unseeded Mahut hit a forehand wide.

Earlier on Tuesday, defending champion Gilles Simon stunned Australian Open winner Novak Djokovic 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3 in the second round of the Open 13 on Thursday.
