Devi Sriprasad Chennai: For music director Devi Sriprasad, the opportunity to work in ‘Dasavatharam’ is a dream come true. A ‘devotee of actor Kamal Haasan’ — as he declares himself, the young music director, who has made a name for himself in Tollywood, has his hands full in Kollywood too. He recently wrapped up work for ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ starring Jeyam Ravi and is composing music for ‘Kanthasami,’ starring actor Vikram and directed Susi Ganesan. He has also been signed up for actor Vijay’s next film, to be directed by Prabhu Deva. And now, the recent assignment to score the background music for Kamal’s ‘Dasavatharam,’ he says, was an irresistible offer. An ardent fan of not just actor Kamal, but also Kamal, the singer, he says he will try his best to get the actor to sing for him, in the background score. “I am working on a really special tune for him.” “The film Salangai Oli and Illayaraja Sir’s music in the film is my inspiration. Even now, I watch the film often,” he says. Queried on what he felt about the clippings he saw from the film that has been making so much news, he says: “Working with Kamal sir is like receiving an Oscar award. There is no superlative that can match this one man called Kamal,” he says.
