Plea to recover poromboke lands

KANCHEEPURAM: A group of villagers from Devathur hamlet in Madurantakam panchayat union submitted a memorandum to Collector Santosh K. Misra on Friday, urging the State government to recover government ‘poromboke’ lands allegedly encroached by Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam founder-leader Vijayakant.

The petitioners claimed that the private farm set up by the DMDK leader included around 40 acres of government poromboke lands.
