Kunhalikutty criticises law and order situation MSF to hold student rally today MALAPPURAM: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) State general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty said here on Saturday that the IUML would provide a platform for the formation of a collective of backward and marginalised communities. He was inaugurating a delegates’ conference as part of the district meet of the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), the student arm of the IUML. Mr. Kunhalikutty said the law and order situation in the State had deteriorated to such a level that even the ruling party could not hold its conference peacefully. (He was referring to the incident on the final day of the CPI(M) State conference). He called upon the student community to come forward to fight communalism and terrorism. “Students should fight for the cause of virtue on campuses,” he said. According to him, the recent victory of the MSF in campus elections showed the IUML’s reach among the youth. N.K. Afzal Rahman, district president of the MSF, presided over the delegates’ session. IUML youth leader Panakkad Sayed Munawwarali Shihab Thangal and P.K. Abdu Rabb, MLA, addressed the delegates. The former Education Minister E.T. Mohammed Basheer inaugurated an academic debate on Saturday afternoon. Kutty Ahamed Kutty, MLA; K.N.A. Khader, former MLA; and P.K. Firoz, State president of the MSF; spoke. Earlier, IUML district president Panakkad Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the district conference of the MSF. P.V. Abdul Wahab, MP, and Abdurahman Randathani, MLA, were among those who addressed the gathering. A mass student rally to be taken out on Sunday afternoon will precede the valedictory function.
