ESI hospital upgraded

Chandigarh: The 50-bed ESI hospital at Mandi Gobindgarh has been upgraded and it would cater to the needs of industrial workers.

This was stated here on Saturday by R.I. Singh, Chief Secretary of Punjab while addressing a meeting of the officers of various departments including the Finance, Health and Education.

He asked the officers of the Health Department to purchase the medical equipments at the earliest and also ensure the availability of the specialists especially in all the ESI hospitals in Punjab.

There are at present 70 dispensaries and seven ESI hospitals said the Chief Secretary, which should be provided the necessary infrastructure and all kinds of modern facilities. He emphasized the need for purchasing the equipment within a period of three months.

Vijay Kain, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare, said the extension of ESI scheme to private educational institutions had already been accepted by the DPI Primary who would shortly submit a proposal regarding this to the Govt. PTI
