Launch criminal prosecution against private school: court
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: Flaying a government-aided private school for falsifying records to claim benefits, the Madras High Court has directed the Education Department to launch criminal prosecution against the Madurai-based institution.
A Division Bench, comprising Justice Elipe Dharma Rao and Justice S.R. Singharavelu, also directed the Superintendent of Police, Madurai district, to extend full cooperation and ensure that the complaint lodged by the Director of School Education reached its “logical end at the earliest.”
The matter relates to the upgradation of the Physical Director post in Madurai Nadar Uravinmurai Jayaraj Nadar Higher Secondary School at Nagamalai, from Grade II to Grade I.
The March 2000 order was withdrawn by the government in April 2002 as the incumbent director had retired. But, even before the authorities permitted the school management to fill the Grade-II post, the School Committee filled the vacancy with Grade-I appointment.
