Finance Minister cancels visit

BANGALORE: Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram cancelled his visit to Bangalore on Saturday for holding discussions with Governor Rameshwar Thakur and other senior government officials on the preparation of the State Budget for 2008-09. The Governor disclosed to presspersons that he was telephonically informed by Friday evening, that the Finance Minister was pre-occupied with pre-Budget meetings in Delhi and would not come to Bangalore. — Special Correspondent
