TDP claim on MSP hike ridiculed

HYDERABAD: Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy has ridiculed the Telugu Desam Party’s claim that the Commission on Agricultural Costs and Prices had recommended enhancement of minimum support price for paddy following the agitations launched by it.

“We have no dispute if the TDP wants to take the credit for the recommendation. But the party should explain why it failed to enhance the MSP during its rule. Do they have an explanation for that?” he asked.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the Minister said farmers were not prepared to believe the TDP claims as they were aware of the facts that MSP was enhanced only when the Congress was in power.

Stating that the recommendation made by the CACP had vindicated the resolution passed by the Assembly, he recalled that the TDP did not cooperate with the Government when the resolution was passed.
