Tiruchi women in semifinals

TIRUCHI: Tiruchi women defeated Sivaganga 49-21 to enter the semifinals of the State-level basketball tournament, conducted by the Tiruchi unit of SDAT, here on Saturday.

Sathyabama posts win

Sathyabama EC defeated St. Joseph’s CE 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, 25-15 in a volleyball semifinal league encounter of the South India-level inter-collegiate centenary tournaments, organised by St. Joseph’s College, here on Saturday.

The results (semifinal league): DB Jain bt St. Joseph’s College (Tiruchi) 25-20, 25-14, 25-22; Quarterfinals: DB Jain bt Jamal Mohammed 25-22, 23-25, 25-23; Sathyabama bt New Hostel 25-10, 25-22.

Vinoth nets winner

Tiruchi Union edged out Jothi Micro 1-0 in a Tiruchi DFA third division ‘B’ zone football league fixture here on Saturday. Vinoth was the scorer.

Other results: Second division: Kennedy 1 (Shankar) drew with White Blues 1 (Senthil Kumar).

Third division: RK 2 (Ravi, Murugan) drew with Rock City 2 (John, Alto).

Sivakumar MHC wins

Sivakumar Memorial Hockey Club scored an easy 4-1 win over Karanthai Umamaheswara HSS to win the title in the district-level hockey tournament, conducted by the Thanjavur unit of SDAT, at Thanjavur on Saturday.

The results: Final: Sivakumar Memorial Hockey Club 4 (Dileep 2, Karthi 1, Manikandan 1) bt Karanthai Umamaheswara HSS 1 (Mohan).
