KOLKATA: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president, Prasun Mukherjee, said on Saturday that the affiliated units of the association would decide the fate of the Indian Premier League matches at the Eden Gardens. Speaking to the media in response to the IPL Governing Council Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi’s threat to take away the Kolkata region matches to Ahmedabad, the CAB chief said it was for the 121 affiliated units of the association to accept the 20 per cent tickets being allotted to the CAB. To start the process of getting the views of the members, the CAB has called for a working committee meeting on Monday which will in turn authorise the association to call for a special general body meeting in seven days time. Asked whether the delay in the defence ministry extending the lease of the Eden Gardens would have any impact on organising the IPL matches, he said he did not foresee any problem in this regard, for the CAB did organise successfully international matches in recent times. — Special Correspondent
